Mark Rothko

Painter, American, born Russia (now Latvia), 1903 - 1970

The image shows swirling lines and curved shapes across the central portion of the canvas, creating an abstract composition. These shapes suggest musical instruments and the top portion of the image displays horizontal bands and circular outlines. The earthy tones create an impression of wood grain or dark chocolate hues.
