The sculpture depicts a seated female figure in a nude form on a rock-like structure with a draped cloth. Her head is turned slightly downwards to look to her right, with hair styled in an intricate manner. Next to her on the left side is a peacock with elongated tail feathers flowing down beside her leg. The sculpture is made of bronze with a green patina. The figure is detailed with human anatomy, and the appearance is elegant and serene. The name "BARYE" is inscribed at the front base of the sculpture.

Private collection, Geneva; (art dealer, Geneva); sold by 1986 to (Pegasus Fine Arts, New York);[1] purchased 24 October 1986 by NGA.
[1] Letter to the author dated 14 November 1990 from the late Joseph J. Wade, Pegasus Fine Arts (in NGA curatorial files). The dealer in Geneva had the sculpture on consignment.
