The image shows a sketch of three full-length figures. The central figure is flanked by two figures on either side, each with wings. The figures appear to be standing within an arched framework. The central figure has loose, flowing hair, and all three figures are dressed in long, simple robes. Their wings rise upwards and outwards, blending with the arched design around them. The sketch is done in pencil with some shading for depth. The background consists of a blank parchment sheet with faint grid lines and the arch design.

Augustus Vincent Tack · early 20th century · graphite and scratchwork on scratchboard ·  Accession ID  2015.19.2568

The image is a detailed pencil sketch depicting a group of people gathered together. The upper portion of the image shows a large, seated central figure above the others, as rays of light emanate upwards from behind them. The lower half of the image depicts several people, mostly visible from the chest upward, with some fully visible, from the back or side, in a standing position. Their facial features are delicately drawn, showing various expressions. The individuals have a range of hairstyles, from long to short, and most appear to be wearing draped garments reminiscent of classical robes. Surrounding the group is an ornate architectural frame. The background above the gathering is minimal. At the bottom of the artwork, a caption or dedication reads "1866: IN MEMORIAM: 1896 CHARLES E. DUNLAP BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART." The entire sketch is surrounded by additional architectural sketched lines.
