Meet the Eric Byrd Trio, internationally acclaimed jazz musicians who blend swing, bebop, gospel, and blues with energy and soul. For more than 25 years, the Maryland-based trio has performed worldwide, earning a Maryland State Arts Council Independent Artist Award and serving as Kennedy Center/US State Department Jazz Ambassadors.

The band reimagines beloved jazz instrumental and vocal standards with rich harmonic color and rhythmic vitality. The program features music from their recording Echoes of Arrival alongside fresh compositions that reflect their evolving artistic voice. Enjoy lyrical ballads, driving grooves, and moments of spontaneous improvisation. Rooted in tradition yet forward-looking in spirit, this ensemble celebrates jazz as a living art form—inviting listeners into an intimate and memorable musical experience. 

Our free lottery system gives everyone an equal chance of attending Jazz in the Garden. Not selected? We offer limited day-of passes at signs by the Sculpture Garden entrances, starting at 5:00 p.m.
