What to Know About Jazz in the Garden

Check out our tips for your evening in the Sculpture Garden. 
 

  • Getting here

    • The Sculpture Garden is located on the north side of the National Mall between 7th and 9th Streets NW. You can enter from Madison Drive, Constitution Avenue, or 7th Street beginning at 5:00 p.m.
    • The nearest Metro stations are Archives-Navy Memorial Penn Quarter (Green/Yellow), and Smithsonian (Blue/Orange/Silver). Metrobuses stop along Constitution Avenue NW. There’s no parking garage on our campus, and parking on the surrounding streets is limited.
    • Access to and parking near the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden may be affected by the other events in the immediate area. We recommend taking public transportation and giving yourself extra time.
    • Have your passes ready to be scanned when you arrive. Send a screenshot of the QR code to your group if you are arriving separately.
  • Seating

    • Seating is first-come, first-served, and mostly on our grass.
    • This is a shared space, so pack light. You are welcome to bring a blanket or small folding chair, but please not large items like tents, folding tables, or beach umbrellas.
    • Help us preserve the beauty of our Sculpture Garden. Please do not touch artwork, do not sit in plant beds, and respect areas not designated for seating.
  • Food and drink

    • Food and beverages will be available for purchase (preview the menus here). Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics, but outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited and will be confiscated. 
  • Accessibility

    • All entry gates are accessible. Service dogs are permitted in the East and West Buildings as well as in the Sculpture Garden.
    • Please reach out to [email protected] with accessibility questions.
  • Other visitor policies

    • Bicycles and scooters may not be brought into the Sculpture Garden during these events. Please secure them at one of the racks located near the Constitution Avenue and Madison Drive entrances. Skates and skateboards may not be used in the Sculpture Garden.
    • Please prepare your food items ahead of time—knives for food prep aren’t allowed on-site.
    • Please note that mace and pepper spray are not allowed at the event. Firearms and other dangerous or deadly weapons are strictly prohibited. 
    • Smoking, including electronic cigarettes and vaping, is not permitted the Sculpture Garden. Smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of any entrance.

Festivals :  Jazz in the Garden: American Sounds

DC’s favorite outdoor summer concert series, Jazz in the Garden, returns on Friday evenings. This season’s theme, “American Sounds,” is a nod to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
