Meet Joe Pug, a singer-songwriter known for his lyrical acumen and plaintive harmonica style. Pug grew up playing at the New Deal Café in Greenbelt, Maryland. After dropping out of college, he moved to Chicago, where he worked as a carpenter before breaking into the area’s music scene. Since 2008 he has released a string of critically acclaimed albums and toured in the US and abroad. Thanks to his narrative songwriting and literary references, Pug has been compared to musicians such as John Prine, Tom Waits, and Bob Dylan.
Our free lottery system gives everyone an equal chance of attending Jazz in the Garden. Not selected? We offer limited day-of passes at signs by the Sculpture Garden entrances, starting at 5:00 p.m.
Lottery Dates
- Lottery opens: Monday, July 6, 10:00 a.m.
- Lottery closes: Friday, July 10, noon
- Results announced: Monday, July 13, 10:00 a.m.
- If selected, register for passes by Friday, July 17 at 5:00 p.m.

Concerts may be canceled due to excessive heat or inclement weather. In the event of cancellation, visitors who have reserved passes will receive an email.
