Artist, Italian, 1723 - 1783

This etching depicts a pastoral scene viewed from a slightly elevated angle. The horizon is not prominently featured. A horse stands on the left side, with a hunched back and a long mane. A shepherd is seated near a cave entrance, playing a flute. A dog rests at his feet, and a goat stands nearby. The cave shelters several sheep. The artist uses fine lines to create texture and detail. The color palette is monochromatic, in black and white. The background features minimal foliage and thin tree branches.
