The image shows a scene with people on a set of steps and surrounding walkways. The point of view is from an elevated perspective. The horizon is not visibly distinct. The etching style features delicate, cross-hatched and linear brushstrokes creating texture and depth. The overall color palette is monochromatic, with soft, sepia-toned hues. Closest to us, a woman is ascending the stairs, with other figures scattered throughout. Buildings and trees fill the background with intricate linework.
