The image shows a waterfront view at dusk or dawn, overlooking the water towards the pier and city. The horizon is low in the image, just below the line of the pier and silhouetted cranes. The artwork style appears to use etching techniques with sharp lines and deep shadows. The color palette consists of dark tones, primarily blues and grays. The water reflects the dim light of a hidden or setting sun. There is a close structure resembling a dredger with a large wheel.
