The image features an architectural scene viewed from a slightly elevated point. A cityscape rises gradually from close to us to the distance. The horizon is high, with a series of buildings, including a grand cathedral with spires and a tower. The buildings create a layered effect as they rise up a hill. The drawing consists of fine linework, cross-hatching, and shading to depict textures and depth. The color palette is monochromatic, using shades of sepia or light brown. In the lower portion, rooftops, trees, walls, and buildings are visible. The composition is well-balanced, with the cathedral and tower providing vertical emphasis against the horizontal spread of the structures on the hillside.
