Artist, British, 1872 - 1953

The image shows a coastal scene with a horizon in the upper third. Distant land, possibly a marsh or bay, is visible. Several boats with tall masts are anchored along the shore. The style uses delicate brushstrokes creating a smooth texture. The colors are muted with soft shades of brown and grey. Closest to us, there is a small boat on a waterway leading into the scene. In the distance, a column of smoke rises from the land. The sky is filled with wispy clouds.
