The landscape is seen from an elevated point of view with a wide perspective. The horizon is low in the composition, with distant structures and rolling terrain. The brushstrokes are detailed, rendered in graphite or charcoal. The color palette is subdued, with soft greys and deep blacks. A flock of sheep is close by, with a figure, possibly a shepherd, and distant haystacks and a building.
