The image shows a cluster of old, rustic European-style buildings set beyond a dirt-filled yard with barrels, carts, and wheels. The rooftops of the buildings are about as high as the artwork allows. Smoke rises from chimneys, enhancing the horizontal composition. The etching technique is visible in the fine lines defining the architecture. The color palette is muted, with sepia tones conveying age. A sign to the left reads "CAFÉ," and a larger sign on the central building reads "L'Esca Catalana." The background features more buildings merging into a light, undetailed sky.
