Painter, American, 1880 - 1958

This painting depicts a landscape overlooking a rustic terrain towards a distant hill. The horizon is high in the image, showing a tan, rocky hill covered with dark blue trees under a light blue sky. Closer to us, rocks and fallen branches are scattered nearby on the textured light brown ground. A body of blue water is visible near the center, bordered by leafless trees and dense bushes. In the distance, trees and foliage merge with the tall hill in a blend of soft blues and greens. More blue water is visible at the base of the hill. The color palette includes muted earth tones, pastel blues, and light, spring greens.
