Provenance

Valadier workshop until 1817; Giuseppe Spagna and his son Pietro Paolo, who took over the Valadier workshop and apparently gathered drawings from the Valadiers and their workshop in albums; the album containing this drawing purchased by a private collector, traveling in Italy toward the end of the 19th century; by descent; (Artemis Group, London). John Winter, London; (his sale, Sotheby's London, 10 December 2015, no. 127); (via Trinity Fine Art, Ltd); purchased 2015 by NGA.
