George Cuitt the Younger

Artist, British, 1779 - 1854

The image shows the interior of an ancient, crumbling structure like an abbey or cathedral. There are arching columns with intricate details. The view leads to the outside where there are ruins covered in foliage. In the distance, more ruins can be seen with trees growing among them. The scene is monochromatic with rich contrasts and etching technique. Two figures are seen close to a column. The horizon is obscured by arches and vegetation, and the setting appears abandoned.
