Associated Names
This painting shows a jousting scene between two armor-clad competitors on horseback. The painting depicts a dynamic encounter, where two figures, clad in suits of armor, are mounted on horses in a jousting tournament. One rider, mounted on a dark reddish-brown horse, is shown in a forward-leaning motion, while another rider, astride a green horse, leans towards their opponent. Each horse appears to be elaborately adorned in colors to match their riders. The image captures the moment of impact as lances break upon contact, with fragments of wood and the tip of a lance flying through the air, emphasizing the intensity of the moment. Delicate details, such as the ornate crests atop the helmets and the careful line work, give a sense of authenticity and period flair. This is in the style of an early Renaissance or late Gothic artist.
