The image shows three figures in an interior setting. An elderly man with a bald head and a long beard is seated in a wooden chair, leaning forward with a concentrated expression. Two young children stand in front of him. One child with curly hair reaches out towards the man, from which smoke or steam rises. The other child, seen from behind, wears a similar robe and a hat, sitting or kneeling on the floor, facing the man. The man is dressed in a long robe with a fur collar and is gesturing or reaching towards the child with both hands. To the right, a small animal is curled on the floor beside a jug near the man's chair. The room has wooden paneling, a central fireplace with an ornate arch and mantel, an open doorway, and an alcove with a decorative element. A Latin inscription encircles the scene within a circular border.
