This is a drawing of an outdoor scene with a seated figure under a tree. The figure is nestled against a large tree, engrossed in writing or reading a book that rests on their lap. The tree under which the figure sits has a twisted and gnarled trunk, with sprawling branches that extend across the top of the scene, laden with dense foliage. To the right of the figure, the landscape opens up, revealing distant hills and additional trees that contribute to the setting. The scene is detailed with fine cross-hatching and intricate linework.
