The image shows an aerial map-like view of a landscape. The horizon is in the upper part, leading to distant rolling hills. The brushstrokes and line work are finely detailed, hinting at a drafting or etching technique. The image is mainly monochromatic, with varying shades of gray and sepia creating a muted effect. Closest to the viewer is a detailed depiction of a town or military camp with tiny structures and organized patterns indicating roads and boundaries. Further out, there are fields, rivers, soft hills, and occasional patches of trees fading into the horizon.
