The image depicts an older man seated on a cloth-draped surface. He has a full beard and long, unkempt hair. He is dressed in a long robe and is barefoot, with one arm resting on an object and the other extended outward. Books are stacked around him, and he holds a pen-like object in one hand while a sword lies beside him. In the background, there are rolling clouds, with figures emerging from the clouds near the bottom of the scene. The area is detailed with etched lines, providing texture to the clouds and landscape.
