This is a drawing depicting a religious scene with symbolic virtues. The central figure is kneeling and holding a cross. Above, a heavenly figure with angels appears to be blessing the scene. Two robed figures stand on each side, one holding a staff with a lily. The words "LUX CLAUSTRI" are shown in the sky, under which are inscriptions for "Obedientia," "Paupertas," and "Castitas", translating to obedience, poverty, and chastity. Detailed shading and line work give the illustration depth and drama, typical of etching style associated with Jacques Callot.
