This is a drawing depicting the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The image shows an infant being held in a domestic interior scene by figures. Several angelic figures are depicted floating among clouds. The room is crowded with detailed linework giving a sense of depth and texture to the various textiles, draperies, and architectural elements. The figures are dressed in flowing garments resembling classical robes, with expressions and gestures conveying reverence and celebration. The scene is framed by heavy curtains on either side.
