Artist, Flemish, c. 1550 - 1603/1605

The image displays a rural scene from a slightly elevated perspective. A figure sits under a large tree observing the surroundings. A road leads into the distance where two horses and a cart loaded with hay approach a rustic structure. Near the structure, there are barrels and smoke coming from a chimney. In the fields beyond, several small figures are engaged in harvesting activities. The horizon is lined with small buildings or trees. The illustration uses delicate lines with light blue washes for shadows. The color scheme is mainly sepia tones with hints of blue. The sky has wispy clouds and faint birds in the background.
