Artist, French, 1847 - 1898

The image depicts a pier or dock with people carrying umbrellas and a small dog walking. The horizon is obscured by silhouettes of people and dock structures. A tall flagpole with a fluttering flag is visible against a cloudy sky. The artwork features a cross-hatched technique creating texture, capturing movement in the clouds. The color palette consists of blacks, greys, and varying shades. The scene conveys a moody atmosphere with light and shadow on wet surfaces as rain falls. Lighter sketches contrast with the dark main scene to the left.
