Artist, American, 1886 - 1958

The image shows sand dunes from a slightly elevated angle. The horizon is visible near the top, with undulating dunes meeting a distant mountain range. Ripples in the sand create a textured surface with contrasting light and shadow. Darkened hollows and illuminated crests of the dunes create a monochromatic composition in varying shades of black, white, and gray.
