The image shows a harbor scene with ships and activity on the docks. The horizon line is in the upper third of the image, with a cityscape in the distance. Large sailing ships with tall masts and rigging dominate this section. The brushstrokes are loose and sketchy, conveying movement. The color palette includes blues, browns, and grays, with pops of red and yellow. Closest to us, there are horse-drawn carts and figures engaged in loading and unloading goods on the dock.
