Overview: 19 monumental color images, some as large as 6 feet high by 10 feet wide, created by American photographer Richard Misrach were shown in this exhibition. The series of works, begun while the photographer was on vacation in Hawaii, were influenced by the events of September 11, 2001, and On the Beach, a 1957 novel by Nevil Shute. The prints were on loan from the artist’s collection.

Photographer Richard Misrach presented a lecture about the series on June 8. A family workshop, "Beach Views," was held July 24–26 and August 7–9.

Organization: The exhibition was organized by The Art Institute of Chicago. Elizabeth Siegel, associate curator of photography, Art Institute of Chicago, was curator. Sarah Greenough, senior curator of photographs, National Gallery of Art, coordinated the exhibition in Washington.

Sponsor: The exhibition was made possible through the support of the Trellis Fund.
