  • A white line curves up into a hook within a smoky dark gray and dusky rose-pink field in this abstract, vertical painting. The white hook stretches up from the bottom center of the canvas up and to our right, to span three-quarters the height of the painting. A rounded, oblong shape fills the open space between the apex of the hook and its sharp, pointed tip. The oblong shape lightens from inky black at the top, through gradations of gray, to become ash white at the bottom. The hook is surrounded by a field in the shape of a narrow, upside-down U, which deepens from fog gray near the hook to black along the sides and where it extends off the top edge. The column created by the inverted U field is flanked by vertical bands of burgundy red, which lightens to rose pink along the left and right edges of the canvas.

  • The spiraling whorls of a nearly round, pearl-white shell fills this square painting. The inner edges of the shell’s whorls are shaded with pale spring green, especially to our right, and the innermost spiral is pale pink. The outer lip, that is, the open end of the shell, faces down to our right. The shell sits against a stone-gray background and casts a shadow to our left.

  • Created with diffuse tones of cool gray and white, a curve cuts across a line running down the center of this vertical, abstract painting. The vertical line is shaded to the right with smoke gray at the top and darker, charcoal gray near the center. The arc of the curve sweeps down from the left of center along the top edge, and reaches about halfway down the right edge. The shading within the circle is darker where the line cuts down the top of the form. An elongated, wedge-shaped wash of violet extends from the top to about halfway down the left side of the line.

  • Pools of sapphire, aquamarine, and cobalt-blue watercolor puddle and bleed together in this abstract painting on paper. Most of the horizonal sheet is taken up with a dark blue form reminiscent of a hill. The upper corners of the sheet are painted powder blue, suggesting sky. The sheet is edged with the white of the paper, and the darker and lighter blue areas are also mostly separated by a thin white line.
