His hands rest on his knee, and he has a round face, full beard, and glasses. The man appears older with sparse hair. He wears a dark coat over a patterned shirt. Behind him is a blank wall with a small framed artwork in the upper right corner, showing another man's face with glasses. Adjacent to the man is a table with a vase holding a large bouquet of tall-stemmed tulips. The background is simple with soft shadows indicating light from the front or top-left.
