Late Summer, Early Widescreen highlights four “widescreen” films. Though they were produced in very different times and contexts, each gives a sense of the technical and cultural possibilities that large-format cinema has represented over the last century. This film series is part of Big Screen Summer, cocurated and presented by Lalitha Gopalan, the AFI Silver Theater, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Museum of Asian Art.
