Overview: This exhibition featured paintings and drawings of the war in the Pacific, created by 17 American artists in combat areas. The works were executed for the Marine Corps, Navy, and War Departments for Life magazine. The Treasury Department initiated the exhibition as a stimulus to the sale of war bonds during the seventh war loan drive. The show was supervised by Forbes Watson of the Treasury Department and went on to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and then on tour through the West and South.
