Overview: 57 pieces dating from the 15th to the 20th century illustrated various uses of terracotta as a medium, from preliminary models to highly finished works of art.
Organization: The exhibition was arranged chronologically and organized by Charles Avery, former curator of sculpture at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Heavily damaged pieces were restored at the Gallery by Vic Covey. Carolyn Wilson Newmark, assistant curator of sculpture at the National Gallery of Art, served as curatorial advisor. Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition.
