Overview: 78 prints and drawings from the mid-16th to the mid-20th century were selected from 143 works on paper, a gift to the Gallery by Dr. Ruth B. Benedict. The chronologically arranged exhibition was presented as a tribute to Dr. Benedict, who had died in October 1993.

Organization: It was organized by Andrew Robison, Andrew W. Mellon senior curator, assisted by Gregory Jecmen, assistant curator of old master prints.
