Overview: 89 works selected from the gifts and bequest of Paul Mellon were presented to recognize his extraordinary generosity to the National Gallery of Art. Shown were French, British and American paintings, sculpture, drawings, watercolors, and prints. A section of the exhibition was devoted to the work of Edgar Degas and included the sculpture Little Dancer Aged Fourteen in both wax and plaster versions.

Organization: Alan Shestack, deputy director of the National Gallery of Art, was the exhibition curator.
