Overview: The Madonna and Child with Scenes from the Life of Christ and the Virgin (The Beffi Triptych) from the National Museum of Abruzzo, L'Aquila, Italy, was loaned for display in the West Building Rotunda as a gesture of appreciation for American aid following the earthquake of April 9, 2009. The 15th-century altarpiece was the first work of art to be transported out of the region of Abruzzo following the disaster. It was loaned for this presentation by the Soprintendenza dell'Abruzzo e la Direzione Regionale dell' Abruzzo.
