Overview: 146 20th-century drawings from the National Gallerys collection and promised gifts were presented in the exhibition. Arranged chronologically, works by a wide range of European and American artists were presented, including Auguste Rodin, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Charles Sheeler, Edward Hopper, and Jackson Pollock.

Organization: The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Andrew Robison, Mellon senior curator of prints and drawings, National Gallery of Art, and Judith Brodie, associate curator of prints and drawings, National Gallery of Art, were curators of the exhibition.
