Overview: 55 works by surrealists René Magritte, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, and Victor Brauner were on view together with books, documents, and exotica.
Organization: The pieces were from the collections assembled by Dominique and John de Menil and family, and were chosen and installed by Walter Hopps, director of the planned Menil collection museum in Houston. E.A. Carmean Jr. was the coordinator. Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition and Gordon Anson designed the lighting.
