Overview: 89 pieces of funerary art were on view, representing the link between the natural and spiritual worlds. The objects of cloth, terracotta, stone, wood, and nails were shown in cases and on platforms with photomurals and explanatory wall texts.
Organization: Robert F. Thompson of Yale University and Frère Joseph Cornet of Kinshasa, Zaire, organized the exhibition. Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition, and Gordon Anson designed the lighting.
