Overview: 29 genre and landscape paintings by Bingham were organized by the Saint Louis Art Museum and the National Gallery of Art.

Organization: Michael Shapiro, chief curator at the Saint Louis Art Museum, was the exhibition curator. Nicolai Cikovsky Jr., curator of American painting and deputy senior curator of paintings, coordinated the exhibition at the National Gallery. Franklin Kelly, former curator of American painting at the National Gallery, contributed to the exhibition in its formative stages. Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser designed the exhibition, and Gordon Anson designed the lighting.

Sponsor: Boatmen's Bancshares, Inc., and the Henry Luce Foundation, Inc., supported the exhibition and catalogue. The National Endowment for the Arts, the Missouri Arts Council, Hecht's, a division of the May Department Stores Company, and Monsanto Company provided additional support for the exhibition.
