Overview: 10 paintings and 2 sculptures were on tour while the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj was being renovated. This was the first time these works of art, including Velázquez' portrait of Pope Innocent X and busts of the pope by Bernini and Algardi, had been seen in the United States.
Organization: The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery, London. The coordinator for the National Gallery of Art in Washington was David Alan Brown, curator of Italian Renaissance painting.
