Mies van der Rohe: The Barcelona Pavilion

Overview: A model of the 1929 pavilion and about 40 photographs, drawings, documents, and pieces of furniture were on view. Ludwig Glaeser, curator of the Mies van der Rohe Archive at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, organized and designed this exhibition for the 50th anniversary of the German pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona, Spain. The architect Philip Johnson, owner of original Barcelona chairs and stools, had their cushions recovered in white kid leather for the occasion.
