Overview: 29 volumes published between 1919 and 1931 by the Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany, were shown in this exhibition drawn from the rare book collection of the National Gallery of Art Library. The books on view illustrated the evolution of Bauhaus printing from an initial focus on artists' woodcuts, engravings, and lithographs, through later evolution as a typography workshop.
Organization: The installation was organized by the National Gallery of Art. Yuri Long, rare book specialist, National Gallery of Art Library, was curator.
