Overview: 7 tabernacle frames from the 15th–century Italian Renaissance to the 19th–century Renaissance revival were selected from the Samuel H. Kress collection of frames. The exhibition also included a model demonstrating how each layer of the sculptural frame was constructed.

Organization: The installation was organized by the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Nicholas Penny, senior curator and head of the department of sculpture and decorative arts; Mark Leithauser, head of design and installation; and Karen Serres, Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Fellow, were curators. Richard Ford, frame conservator, and Steve Wilcox, senior conservator of frames, built the demonstration frame and provided supporting research.
