Overview: 52 paintings, 12 sculptures, 4 drawings, and 6 watercolors were shown in this exhibition selected from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Barney A. Ebsworth. Included were works by artists Edward Hopper, Charles Sheeler, Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol, Arshile Gorky, and other American modernists.

In a special lecture on March 5, Conversations with Collectors: Barney A. Ebsworth, the collector discussed the development of his collection with Franklin Kelly, curator of American and British paintings.

Organization: The exhibition was organized by the National Gallery of Art. Nicolai Cikovsky Jr., senior curator of American and British paintings, and Franklin Kelly, curator of American and British paintings, were curators of the exhibition.
