Programming and Digital Initiatives at the Center
During my first summer at the National Gallery of Art as a Howard University undergraduate intern, I worked with the Center and was responsible for programming. This role allowed me to organize events that required careful planning, collaboration, and creativity. I also engaged in meaningful discussions with my peers about our fellowship experience—how we can enhance it as current fellows and how it can continue to evolve for future participants.
With the start of the school year, I transitioned to the digital initiatives team, where I gained a deeper understanding of both internal and external communications. Applying the knowledge from my public relations coursework while exploring creative strategies has been incredibly rewarding. Currently, I am working on pitches for a potential event that I look forward to attending in the near future.
Through this latter experience, I have also developed a deeper appreciation for visitor engagement. Learning about visitor experience has reinforced my passion for making museums more accessible and enjoyable. As someone who has grown to genuinely love spending time at the National Gallery, I am excited to share that enthusiasm and help others cherish their moments here as much as I have.
