A vertical black band and thin black line span the height of this otherwise cream-white, vertically oriented abstract painting. The black band is along the left side of the canvas, and its inner edge feathers inward. The black line cuts up the canvas about three-quarters of the way across from the left. The artist signed and dated the painting in the lower left corner in black, "Barnett Newman 1962.”

Two bright white strips flank a central, darker cream-white area in this vertical, abstract painting. The bright white strips line the left and right edges. To the left, the white strip is bounded by a stripe of the cream-colored canvas. Then a sliver of the brighter white paint is feathered along the right edge of that bare stripe. The artist signed and dated the lower left corner with white paint, “Barnett Newman 1965.”

Two black bands span the height of this otherwise cream-white, vertical, abstract painting. One black strip is along the left side of the canvas, and the other is about three-quarters of the way across from the left. A few tiny drips of black paint are speckled across the canvas. The artist signed and dated the painting in the lower right corner in black, "Barnett Newman 1964.”

One black and a pair of smoke-gray bands span the height of this otherwise cream-white, vertical, abstract painting. The solid black band is along the left side of the canvas. A faint, slightly darker parchment-brown line fades in and out along its right edge. The pair of gray bands are about three-quarters of the way across the painting from the left. Both are streaky but with crisp edges. The thinner thin gray line is separated from a thicker band with a sliver of white, which is itself lined on each side with black. The artist signed and dated the lower right corner with black paint, “Barnett Newman 1958.”

A white, almost square canvas is flanked along the left edge by a narrow line of pumpkin orange and to the right with black. The inner edge of the orange stripe is ragged, as if painted freehand. The inner edge of the black stripe is crisp. The artist signed and dated the painting in black in the lower right corner, “Barnett Newman ‘61+64.”

This painting depicts large, indistinct, amorphous shapes with blurred edges in an abstract design. A dark rectangular block is at the bottom, with scattered irregular shapes above it. Near the top is another large dark shape, and it has two patches of vivid yellow green within it. The background is tan, with streaks of gray between the different shapes.

At first glance, this painting appears completely black. However, upon closer inspection, a slight variation in shade becomes visible; there is a black square surrounded by a border of dark purple. The square is slightly above center, creating a thicker section of purple below it.

This painting depicts various shapes inside overlapping rectangles against a dark orange background. These shapes resemble human limbs and body parts, each contained in their own section. Shapes resembling eyes peek from a cloud-like formation near the top left, and below it are two horizontal rectangles containing long arms ending in hands. Below that are more compartments with a hand, feet, and long legs. On the right is a large rectangle which seems to contain elongated torsos. The body parts and containers are painted in shades of white, gray, dark orange, and red, with dark outlines.

The image features various shapes and flowing lines layered on the canvas, creating depth and movement. It is an abstract composition with swirling forms and bold colors. The interwoven elements could resemble organic shapes or figures. The mix of circular and linear forms might suggest a complex machine or map sections. Contrasting hues like reds and grays create dynamism akin to a busy urban landscape.

This painting contains two horizontal sections. The upper section is black, and it takes up more than half of the painting, but slightly less than two-thirds. The lower section is a light grayish-blue color. The line between the sections is uneven, with some small amount of blurring between the colors. Thick brushstrokes are visible in both sections, creating slight variations in color. In the blue section, there are several places where white and light brown are visible through the blue, perhaps showing us the canvas beneath.
