School Tours and Programs

Through school tours and programs at the National Gallery of Art, students of all ages will discover that art can possess multiple layers of meaning. These programs are a powerful, shared learning experience that will be memorable and meaningful.

In-Person & Virtual School Tours

We are offering both in-person and virtual school tours. Whether your tour is in-person, from the classroom, or from home, your students will participate in an engaging and interactive experience. These tours provide the opportunity for your students to explore and compare a diverse array of works of art from our collection.

High School Programs

Specially trained museum educators lead high school students in close looking, group discussion, and reflective writing over the course of these visits. Programs may also include studio art-making and visual journaling.

Art Around the Corner

In Art Around the Corner, DC-area Title I elementary schools students visit and engage in critical- and creative-thinking activities to make meaning from art, acquire art vocabulary in context, and create art in response to what they see.
