Discover the colorful world of Anansi the spider through Caribbean stories from a rare book in the special collections of the National Gallery of Art Library. Then design your own puppet using everyday, recyclable items.

Please join the session with a variety of household and craft items. Some ideas are plastic or paper straws, disposable chopsticks, popsicle sticks, plastic utensils, toothpicks, buttons, fabric scraps, paper clips, brown paper bags, feathers, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, or dried beans or pasta. You will also need some kind of adhesive (liquid glue, a glue stick, or tape), a pencil, a sheet of paper, and something to color with, like colored pencils, markers, or crayons.

Registration is required. An adult is required to attend the session alongside the child(ren). Capacity is limited and all are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis. This topic is offered several times; please choose one session to attend.

Automatically generated captions are available at all sessions.
Live captions (CART) are available upon request and with two weeks' notice. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
