Let’s build new worlds and dive into creative writing as we celebrate recent acquisitions of work by contemporary Black women artists.

Local author and teacher Tara Campbell will guide us through world-building prompts to spark creative writing. These prompts are inspired by work from Afro-Brazilian artist Sonia Gomes and American sculptor Chakaia Booker.

Tara Campbell is an award-winning writer, teacher, Kimbilio Fellow, fiction co-editor at Barrelhouse, and graduate of American University's MFA in Creative Writing. She's the author of a novel, two hybrid collections of poetry and prose, and two short story collections from feminist sci-fi publisher Aqueduct Press.
